Hi,
I'm Tom Secrest, I was born in Indiana, USA. My younger years were
spent in San Antonio, Texas, Orlean, France, and Washington D.C. I
graduated from Wakefield High School and then I went on to get my B.S.
degree from Virginia Tech University where I majored in Biology while
meeting the minor requirements for Chemistry, Math and Philosophy.
From there I moved to Texas and got my Masters Degree from
Texas A&M
University, where I majored in Zoology and minored in Psychological
and Sociological measurements (statistics). After that I started work
on my PhD at the University of Texas in Pharmacology. In 1985 I took a
position with Austin Community College, in the Biology department. For
the next 17 years I taught Human Anatomy & Physiology, Pharmacology,
General Biology, Chemistry, Nutrition, Exercise Physiology and
Microbiology to students preparing for medical school, dental school
or nursing school. During this time I also taught at
Southwestern
University, in the Exercise Physiology Department. I also worked as an
editor on a number of physiology and microbiology textbooks and
authored dozens of instructional web sites and lab manuals, hundreds
of educational resources and from 2007 -- 2009 I have worked as a
web consultant for the
General Biology
Course Redesign Project for Austin
Community College.
While my business keeps me very busy, I have
still managed to keep one foot in the academic world; I currently
teach on the 3rd Medical Faculty at Charles University in Prague.
I
moved to Europe with the goal of setting up an editing & translation
business. As more and more doctors and scientist work and publish in
English, I knew there would be a need for someone with a Medical /
Scientific background to provide top quality editing, translation,
authoring and proofreading. So I'm here doing what I enjoy, doing one
of the things I do best.
I hope you'll consider my
service every time you need to produce a document in English. Whether
it’s a medical abstract, PowerPoint presentation, web page, brochure,
journal article, product manual or just an email -- these documents
represent you to the public and it's my job to make sure your English
is as perfect as your message.
